We are roofing contractors working across South London and North Kent on both pitched and flat roofs. That covers slipped tiles and leaks through to complete roof replacement, along with the work most roofers treat as somebody else’s job — guttering, fascias, soffits, chimney flashing and lead work. Most enquiries start as a leak, and the first thing we do is find out whether you need a repair or a replacement.
If water is coming in, call 07472 137237. We will make the roof watertight first and quote the permanent repair afterwards, so the damage stops before the paperwork starts.
A leak almost never starts where it shows up inside. Water runs along battens and rafters before it reaches a ceiling, so the damp patch on your bedroom ceiling and the actual failure point are often several metres apart. That is why we get onto the roof and inspect properly rather than quoting from a photograph taken at ground level.
On pitched roofs we handle slate and tile repairs, failed underlay, ridge and hip re-bedding, valley and flashing work, and full re-roofs where the covering has reached the end of its life. On flat roofs we install and repair EPDM rubber, GRP fibreglass and torch-on felt systems, including the insulated deck build-ups underneath them.
Because we also build extensions and loft conversions, roof work that forms part of a larger project is designed and priced as one job rather than bolted on at the end by a separate trade.
Slipped or broken tiles, failed flashing, leaks around chimneys and valleys, and perished underlay. We locate the actual source rather than patching where the water appears, and we will tell you honestly whether a repair is worth doing or whether the covering is close enough to the end of its life that you would be repairing it again next winter.
Complete replacement of the covering, battens and underlay, retaining or repairing the timber structure beneath. Typically needed when a roof reaches sixty to eighty years old and repairs stop holding. Includes new ridge, hip and valley detailing, mechanically fixed to current standards rather than bedded in mortar alone.
EPDM rubber, GRP fibreglass and torch-on felt systems for extensions, dormers, garages and outbuildings. Modern flat roofing bears very little resemblance to the felt roofs that gave flat roofs their reputation thirty years ago — a properly installed EPDM roof has a realistic service life well beyond twenty years. We also handle flat roof repair on existing coverings where replacement is not yet necessary.
Storm damage, sudden leaks and displaced tiles. We make the roof watertight first and quote the permanent repair separately, so water stops entering the building before anything else happens. Call 07472 137237.
Blocked or failed guttering causes a surprising share of the damp problems that get blamed on the roof itself. We replace guttering, fascias and soffits in uPVC or timber, either as standalone work or alongside a re-roof — and if scaffolding is already up, doing both at once is considerably cheaper than two separate visits.
Re-pointing, re-flashing, chimney repairs, and lead valley or parapet work. Chimney flashing is one of the most common leak sources on older properties, and it is frequently misdiagnosed as a tile problem because the water travels before it appears.
Roofing that forms part of a wider build. That means a flat roof extension with rooflights, or a pitched roof extension tied into the existing house so the finished result reads as original rather than added on. Because the same company handles the structure and the roof, there is no gap between trades at the point the building needs to become weathertight.
Commercial roofing contractors work for offices, retail units, industrial buildings and managed properties. We can work out of hours or in phases where the premises need to stay open, and provide the documentation that commercial clients and managing agents expect.
If you are roofing an extension, this is usually the first decision. Neither answer is automatically right.
A flat roof is cheaper, faster to build, and lets you fit large rooflights that bring daylight into the middle of a deep extension — which is often exactly where a rear extension needs it. A pitched roof usually looks more settled against a period house, sheds water without relying on a membrane, and lasts longer before it needs attention. It also costs more and needs more headroom.
The honest answer depends on how deep the extension is, what the existing roofline looks like, and whether planning permission constrains the height. We will give you a view at survey rather than defaulting to whichever we would rather build.
Roofing attracts more doorstep trading than any other building trade, and the pattern is always the same. An unsolicited caller reports a problem you cannot see from the ground, quotes a figure on the spot, and wants a decision that day.
We do not cold-call. We quote in writing after an inspection, we show you photographs of what we found, and we will tell you when a roof has years of life left in it. On repairs we explain what the cause was and why the fix addresses it, because a leak that comes back in six months means the diagnosis was wrong the first time.

New roof cost varies more than most people expect, and very little of it is down to the tiles themselves. These are the real drivers:
We quote in writing after an inspection, itemised so you can compare it properly.
Tell us what the problem is and we will come and look at it properly. You get a written quotation, photographs of what we found, and an honest view on whether you need a repair or a replacement.

It usually comes down to age and the pattern of failure. A few slipped tiles on an otherwise sound roof is a repair. Widespread failure, sagging between rafters, crumbling mortar at the ridge, and leaks appearing in different places each time it rains generally mean the covering has reached the end of its life — and continuing to repair it costs more over five years than replacing it. We give you an honest assessment with photographs after inspecting, rather than pushing you toward the bigger job.
It depends entirely on the system. Traditional torch-on felt typically gives ten to fifteen years. GRP fibreglass generally lasts twenty to twenty five. EPDM rubber, correctly installed, has a realistic service life well beyond twenty years, and manufacturers commonly warrant the material for longer than that. The old assumption that flat roofs fail quickly comes from felt systems installed decades ago, and it is no longer a fair reflection of what is available.
For most work above single storey, yes. Working at height without proper access is unsafe and, for a contractor, illegal. We include scaffolding in the written quotation rather than adding it afterwards, so the figure you compare against other quotes is the figure you actually pay. If a quote seems unusually low, check whether access has been included in it.
For active leaks we prioritise making the roof watertight first and quote the permanent repair separately, so the water stops before anything else is decided. Call 07472 137237 and we will give you a realistic timescale rather than an optimistic one. In storm conditions we are usually dealing with several properties at once and will tell you honestly where you sit in the queue.
Usually yes. Replacing more than a quarter of the roof covering triggers a requirement to bring the insulation up to current standards, which makes it notifiable work. Straightforward repairs generally do not. We tell you which applies before quoting, and we handle the building control submission where it is needed — it is not something you should be left to sort out yourself.
In most cases yes, though exact matches on older or discontinued tiles can be difficult. Where a precise match is not available we discuss the options with you before proceeding, including sourcing reclaimed tiles or using the salvaged originals on the most visible elevation and new tiles at the rear. What we will not do is start the job and present you with a mismatch as a surprise.
Yes, both as standalone work and as part of a re-roof. If scaffolding is already up for roofing work, doing the guttering, fascias and soffits at the same time is considerably more economical than bringing access equipment back a second time. We will always point this out when quoting a re-roof, even where you have not asked about it.
A typical terraced or semi-detached house takes around five to ten working days once scaffolding is up, depending on the size and complexity of the roof and on the weather. Scaffolding usually goes up a few days before work starts and comes down shortly after it finishes. We give you a programme with the quotation so you know how long access equipment will be outside your house.
